Just two days after completing their three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in Townsville, Australia will begin their latest assignment in the 50-over format when the Aaron Finch-led side take on arch-rivals New Zealand. The latest edition of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy will be a three-match affair.
Both sides are almost at full strength but Australia will be without Test skipper Pat Cummins, who has been rested. Meanwhile, Travis Head is not with the team as his partner gave birth to their first child. Kane Williamson is back to lead the Black Caps after missing the last two ODIs against West Indies.
All three matches of the series will be played at the Cazalys Cricket Stadium in Cairns. The venue is hosting international cricket after 19 years and ODI cricket for the first time. Two test matches in 2003 and 2004 respectively had taken place here.
