Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti History:

Originally from the Bhonsle Maratha clan, Shivaji Maharaj went by the name Shivaji Bhosale. According to the Hindu calendar, he was born in Shivneri Fort on the Marathi Shalivahana in 1630, or Falgun’s Krishna paksha 3. One of the greatest Maratha emperors, he carved apart an enclave from the Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur, which signaled the start of the Maratha Empire.

His historical records state that Shivaji Maharaj took the Torna fort at the age of sixteen, and that a year later he also seized the Raigad and Kondana forts. He also gained notoriety for bringing back the Hindavi Swarajya celebration.

Celebration:

Mahatma Phule, the Maratha ruler, inaugurated the festival’s initial celebrations in Pune in 1870. Bal Gangadhar Tilak spearheaded these festivities. By showcasing Shivaji Maharaj’s picture, this independence fighter inspired people and attracted attention to his accomplishments.

Across the state, Maharashtrians commemorate Shivaji Jayanti with tremendous fervor and passion. People honor Shivaji Maharaj on this day in remembrance of his valor and bravery in battling for the country. Various plays and festivities on this day invoke the cultural heritage of the Marathas.

Many Indians are still inspired by Shivaji Maharaj‘s legacy, especially in Maharashtra, where he is regarded as a symbol of honor and community. His extraordinary life and achievements continue to serve as an inspiration to those who pursue justice, liberty, and efficient government.
