Rahul Gandhi on Thursday strongly indicated that Ashok Gehlot, who is set to run for Congress president, cannot keep two posts if he wins. His rival Sachin Pilot may replace him as Rajasthan Chief Minister, sources say. “We have made a commitment in Udaipur, I expect that the commitment will be maintained,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters in Kerala on the “one person, one post” rule and whether it would apply to Ashok Gehlot.
As Ashok Gehlot is contesting election for President’s post, so someone has to replace him as CM. In that case Mr Gehlot’s most likely replacement in Rajasthan would be Sachin Pilot, whose rebellion nearly brought down his government in 2020. Mr Pilot spent the day with Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, walking with him on his “Bharat Jodo Yatra” in Kerala, and flew out this morning, hours before Mr Gehlot’s arrival.
