Steven Vincent Buscemi is an American actor, director and writer born on December 13, 1957. He is known for acting in numerous successful movies as Reservoir Dogs, Desperado, Ghost World, The Hudsucker Proxy, and The Death of Stalin. He is famous for his bad guy roles.Apart from movies, he is also a renowned soap opera star. Throughout his career, Steven has played a lot of interesting diverse roles :horoiec, villainous and comical.

Earlier he was a firefighter at Engine Company No.55 in New York.In 9/11 Aftermath, Steve returned to his former post as volunteer. He worked a 12 hour shift for a week and also dug through rubble looking for missing Firefighters. He is also a real life hero.

  • Steve Buscemi was born in the New York  Borough of Brooklyn.
  • His father, John Buscemi was a sanitation worker and a Korean war veteran.
  • His mother, Dorothy was a hostess at Howard Johnsons. He has three brothers, Jon, Ken and Michael.
  • He studied at ‘Nassau Community College’ for a short duration of time before moving to Manhattan to study theatre at the ‘Lee Strasberg Institute.’

STEVEN BUSCEMI’S CAREER

  • After he completed his education, he took the civil service examination in 1976 to become a New York City firefighter with ‘Engine Company No. 55.’
  • In 1985, Steve made his first public appearance through the film ‘The Way it is’ which was directed by Eric Mitchell and produced by No Wave Cinema.
  • He also performed in some of the movies like ‘Parting Glances(1986)’,’Kiss daddy Goodnight(1987)’,’Slaves of New York(1988)’ during that period.
  • His career took a leap when in 1990 he appeared in the film,‘Miller’s Crossing’ starring opposite  Gabriel Byrne, Marcia Gay Harden, and John Turturro.
  • The film became the  first of six films in which Buscemi would work with the Coen Brothers.
  • Some of his notable works are  ‘Reservoir Dogs(1992)’ ‘Ghost World(2003)’, ‘ Boardwalk Empire(2010)’, ‘ Park Bench(2010)’, ‘ Horace and Pete.(2010)’ and many more.
  • In 2014, Buscemi was named Honorary Battalion Chief by the New York City Fire Department after his early career serving as a fireman, and for his return to the service during 9/11.
