Guru Randhawa’s Early Life –
Guru Sharan Singh Randhawa is his real name. Guru was born on August 30, 1991 in Gurdaspur, Punjab. He belongs to Jatt Sikh family. As a young boy, he used to spend his leisure time watching and listening to Doordarshan and the radio because his hamlet did not have cable TV. In the third grade, he liked to watch television shows like Shaktimaan and Shake Luck Boom Boom.
Guru Randhawa’s Education –
Guru once sang five different songs to win a competition in school. His scholastic career began at Dera Baba Nanak‘s St. Francis Convent School and he completed his MBA at New Delhi‘s Indian Institute of Planning and Management. Guru Randhawa initially performed at small events in Gurdaspur before expanding to gigs in Delhi. During his time in Delhi, he pursued his MBA alongside his burgeoning music career. He earned the moniker “Guru” from rapper Bohemia, who shortened his name for stage performances.
Career –
Randhawa embarked on his music career in December 2012 with “Same Girl” alongside Arjun, marking his entry into the industry. Although the song did not achieve significant success initially, it set the stage for his future endeavors. In early 2013, he released his first solo single, “Chhad Gayi,” under the Speed Records label on YouTube, with financial assistance from his elder brother, Ramneek.
Subsequently, in 2013, Randhawa introduced his debut album, “Page One,” unveiling three tracks: “Dardan Nu,” “I Like You,” and “Southall.” Despite his efforts, none of these songs propelled him to stardom. The following year, Randhawa continued to release tracks from the “Page One” album, including “Khali Bottlan,” “My Jugni,” “Maa,” “Na Na Na Na Na,” “Pyaar Wale Test,” “Modern Thumka,” and “Billo On Fire,” yet success eluded him.
